The International English Language Testing System is the world’s most recognized English language proficiency test for higher learning and global migration. IELTS is the most internationally accepted English language examination that use a one-on-one speaking test to assess your English language abilities. This means that you are evaluated by having a real-life discussion with a real person. IELTS is the most efficient and natural way of testing your English conversation skills. IELTS exam is jointly conducted by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia. IELTS testadheres to the essential international standards of language assessment.

IELTS is recognized and allowed by over 9,000 organizations worldwide, including universities, employers, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. More than thousand IELTS test centers around the world conduct IELTS. Most test centers are administered by the British Council, IELTS Australia, or universities and language schools. You can register for IELTS quickly and easily either online or by post/courier. There are no limitations on re-taking IELTS. You can enroll for a test as soon as you feel you are ready to do so. The test center will give you written verification of the date and time of the test. Results will be available 13 working days after the test.

IELTS is outlined to assess English communication skills across a wide range of levels. There is nothing like a pass or fail in IELTS exam. IELTS results are conducted as band scores on a scale from 1 to 9.There are four sub-tests, or modules, to the IELTS test: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Aspirants must sit all four sub-tests. While all applicants take the same Listening and Speaking tests, they sit different Reading and Writing tests, reliant on whether they have selected the Academic Module or the General Training Module.

IELTS Listening test continues for about 30 minutes. It comprises of four sections, played on cassette tape, in order of increasing difficulty. Each part might be a dialogue or a monologue. There are 40 questions. The test is played once only, and the questions for each section must be answered while listening, even though time is given for students to check their answers. Each correct answer receives one mark. Transcripts out of 40 are converted to the IELTS 9-band scale.

IELTS Reading test lasts for 60 minutes. Students are given an Academic Reading test or a General Training Reading test. There are 40 questions. A mixture of question types are used, chosen from the following: multiple choice, identifying information, identifying a writer’s views/claims, matching data, matching headings, matching features, matching sentence endings, etc. Both tests consist of three sections, and in both tests, each in order of increasing difficulty.

IELTS Writing test also continues for 60 minutes. Again, students take either an Academic Module, or a General Training Module. Students must perform two writing tasks, which require different styles of writing. You are required to write approximately 150 words for Task 1, and at least 250 words for Task 2.There is no choice of question topics.

IELTS Speaking test consists of a one-to-one interview with a specially trained examiner. The meeting is recorded and has three separate parts: An introduction and interview, an individual long turn where the candidate speaks for one or two minutes on a particular topic, and a two-way discussion thematically connected to the long personal turn. This interview will last for nearly 10-15 minutes. You are evaluated on your performance throughout the test by certificated IELTS examiners according to the IELTS Speaking test assessment criteria.
